As part of our efforts to pursue the Triple Bottom Line principle, in 2008 the company invested 2.4 billion Rupees to commission a 10-Megawatt biomass plant in Trincomalee. The plant uses paddy husk and Gliricidia as its energy source.
The benefits of the initiative were two-fold – it frees the company’s operations from reliance on the national grid and acts as a source of eco-friendly electricity.
