We commissioned Sri Lanka’s First successful large scale Dendro power plant in Mahiyangana with a capacity of 5 MW. This Renewable Energy Project illuminates more than 30,000 rural homes. The project as an extra source of livelihood provides 70 direct and over 500 indirect employment opportunities at village level to empower resource-lacking rural communities, while developing the land in a sustainable manner. The Project plants one million Gliricidia trees each year in partnership with farmer organizations in the area. Every year the company pays over Rs. 300 million to these framing families, enabling cash flow to our very own rural economies, which otherwise would flow out to import fossil fuel.
